From time to time, we may invite women to share their experiences with legal aid or domestic abuse via direct message or email, for example, as part of research to inform our work. Where we do this, participation is entirely voluntary, and by choosing to respond you are providing explicit consent for us to process that information for the stated purpose.

We use your information to: respond to enquiries, improve the website and resource, and maintain basic website functionality. We do not sell or share your personal data for marketing purposes.

We process personal data based on:

  • Legitimate interest (responding to enquiries and improving the resource)
  • Consent (where applicable)
  • Explicit consent (for special category data shared voluntarily, such as experiences of domestic abuse or legal aid submitted via direct message or email)

If you choose to share your experiences with us, for example in response to a post asking women to share their experiences of legal aid, whether by direct message on social media or by email, you are providing special category data under UK data protection law. We only use this with your consent, given by the fact that you have chosen to respond. You do not have to include your name or any identifying details about yourself or anyone else, and you can choose to share only what you are comfortable with. We will not publish anything you share in a way that identifies you without asking you first. You can request that we delete what you have shared at any time by contacting team@imgg.co.uk, though this may not be possible if your response has already been anonymised and combined with others.

5. How we store your data

We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is stored securely. We retain contact information for up to 12 months from the date of last contact, after which it is deleted.

We do not share your personal data with third parties unless required by law or necessary to operate the website. We use third party service providers including but not limited to website hosting and Google Analytics to operate this website. These providers may process limited technical data on our behalf.
